Bleap - a self-custodial money app for cross-border users

Bleap is a self-custodial money app offering 2% cashback, global transfers, and up to 8% AER savings. A fresh neobank approach with user control at its core, it's my curated FinTech of choice.

Bleap - a self-custodial money app for cross-border users

If I were building a bank for immigrants today, I would build it very differently. I have seen too many your money is safe stories end with frozen accounts and support tickets that go nowhere.

Fintech of my choice: Bleap

Bleap is a self-custodial money app built around a simple idea. Your money, your keys, but with real everyday perks that people expect from a modern neobank.

They combine 2% cashback, global money transfers, and up to 8% AER savings. On top of that, you can buy or sell 18,000 tokens fee-free. Not as a crypto toy, but as a money app where custody risk is not a hidden footnote.

The traction is already real. More than 25,000 users and strong app store ratings at 4.8 and 4.5. The founders, João Alves and Guilherme Gomes, are ex-Revolut managers, which matters because they understand the messy details of consumer finance at scale, not just the pitch deck version.

They just raised a $6M seed round led by Blossom Capital, after an earlier $2.3M pre-seed that helped them build the core. The plan now is to push fee-free trading further and expand across Europe and Latin America, two regions where trust in institutions and access to good financial products can be very uneven.

The business model is clean. Bleap earns on spreads and optional subscriptions. But the moat is the product philosophy: give users control of their private keys while still offering cashback and yield, so the upside feels like a neobank, and the custody risk looks very different.

I think this is a new direction for neobanking. Less obsession with BaaS, licenses, and dependency chains. More focus on independence and reliability for the user, especially for people who live across borders and cannot afford “banking risk” on top of everything else.

I would genuinely try Bleap as my daily wallet for cross-border life, and see if self-custody can finally feel as smooth as Revolut did in its early days.

What would make you comfortable keeping meaningful savings in a self-custodial app, cashback, and interest included?
